Crafting, Alts, and Storage

I've got a question for those of you that have been passing crafting materials gathered while adventuring and loot for deconstructing to Alt Crafters.  Any tips on managing the passing of the items to alts?

Also, for my Alt who is a Provisioner, I've found his bag space is almost full now at about level 20 Provisioning.  I'm trying to figure out what materials I can get rid of and which ones I need to hold on to.  It appears, from looking at some websites where higher level recipes were shown, that some of the same low-level ingredients will be needed for them too, like broth or drippings, etc.  Any tips on managing all these crafting ingredients but still have enough bag space to be able to actually play the character to do some quests here and there?

From other games, I'm used to each character having their own vault space and also being able to make an Alt Guild just for storing things like this.  With ESO being account-based, and not being able to mail my alts or use alts to make a guild just for my personal storage, I need some advice in how to juggle all this, lol.  When the mail comes back up, I thought maybe I could use the Return to Sender mail idea but any other suggestions would be great.

There really isn't an easy/ non-time consuming way, at least that I know of.

What I have done is created Alts - Arcadia's Enchantress, Arcadia's Provisioner etc and I put those items in the bank, log out and remove them with the correct alt, rinse and repeat.  I do this every night before I log off and it takes about 20-30 mins of just switching and clicking and organizing.  It is a headache but with shared bank space between your characters it fills up fast.  Save up that gold and buy the 1st/2nd bank upgrades - they REALLY help!

I am really hoping this will be a solution.  Take a look at this and see if it would interest you.

However I would say for trading personal items among your alts - use at your own risk since your items could get poached as you are switching back and forth.

I have been struggling with this same problem Dex and I have been doing the same as Vyse has. It's like having your own little army! :)

Yes, no easy answer here.  Like Vyse, I made several alts to act as storage and make my rounds before logging for the night to transfer items. And this isn't even for the purpose of deconstructing so I can level.  Just trying to find some space to store supplies!  I don't know why game creators feel it was necessary to starve us for storage.  I'm not an IT person and this may be a foolish supposition; but wonder if the many alts and numerous log ins/log outs create unnecessary stress on the game (Not to mention the gamer).

Do you think this was done to discourage the less serious crafter from crafting and thus control the economy flow somewhat? There are times when I am annoyed I must spend this time logging in and out while my friends are happily tucked in bed.

And do you think with enough expressing their opinion they might make it a lot less burdensome for the crafters?  I guess I don't see the "common good" of why the crafters must be so hobbled for space.  We all found a workaround; but it's time consuming.  With launch they have much bigger issue to surmount; but hopefully in time we can get them to reconsider crafting storage.

Just some thoughts!

Signed,

Sleep-deprived crafter (LOL)

There is ONE easy answer...just one though.  That is to throw your mats, researchables, or what have you into the mail system for someone to return it back to you.  I use it like a temporary storage unit.  I have been organizing things I can research together and putting descriptive titles on them.  There is an addon that will rts (return to sender) everything in your mail with just a click.  So take advantage of it.  The only disadvantage is that for every mail you rts you lose 10-20 gold, but that is a minor worry.  I right now have about 60 items waiting to be researched up in my mail.  It works pretty nicely

I just found a post in a thread of the Crafting section of ESO's forums that may prove helpful for Provisioning. Following is a quote:

"Collect nothing but recipes until you get near the end of the first zone after the starter areas. Don't keep extra recipes because you may want to use it on another character in the future. Recipes are plentiful and easy to get.

So are provisioning supplies. Don't waste your time gathering them to craft level 1 consumables. Wait until you have level 15+ recipes and just before you move on to the next zone, do a hard target search for the items you need to craft those level 15 recipes. Do it while questing if you prefer, but only focus on the items needed for the level 15 recipes. You can make those without investing any skill points in provisioning and they give a lot of XP. Crafting a single level 15 consumable will get your provisioning from level 1 to 2. So why waste time crafting level 1 consumables? Once you hit provisioning level 20, you can invest a skill point into the next tier of consumables. At that point, you don't need any of the low level supplies any more (thin broth, drippings, mutton, etc.). The level 20+ recipes require entirely different things (broth, cooking fat, venison, etc.).

I followed this exact plan. I started leveling provisioning 2 days ago and in a few hours I was provisioning level 45. I got it to level 50 last night based mostly on the supplies I found in a single mini-dungeon. I forget the name of the dungeon, but it's the one in south-central Stormhaven with Dimitri as the "boss". He drops blue quality leather pants. That dungeon has an absolute ton of crates and barrels.

I make stacks of the best consumables I want and can use and only collect more supplies when the consumables run low, or I am able to craft/use a higher level consumable. The point is, I don't ever need to store provisioning supplies because they are so easy to get."

That actually makes some sense to me.  I think the first tier of provisioning goes until 19 and at 20 you can unlock tier 2.  So it would make sense to get a level 15 or so recipe, get the mats needed for that and then just get to level 20 all in one fell swoop.  Then repeat with the next tier level range.

For alchemy, I can see it being the same way.  All the ingredients are the same with the exception of the water used.  Wait until you have Pristine Water, not the noob water we get at low levels (hehe), then craft with the plants gathered using the pristine water.  I'll have to test that.

For the other crafts, is there a good source for showing what level of crafting you have to be at to unlock the next tier?

I spam all the stuff I need in mails to my partner so he can resend those to me and I get them as needed :3

Is maybe that why they dropped the mailing system for now?
