I had the wonderful opportunity of running as Backline Commander with Terafer Friday Night and I hope to be running in this fashion as often as I can. I wanted to give a more formal introduction to myself since I tend to be a wallflower unless I am contributing something useful.
Follow this link to my Backline Guide that I will be following for our runs:
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, complaints, suggestions, opinions, insults, knowledge, hallucinations, re-imaginings, alternate realities, general references to the abnormalities in the space time continuum as it relates to the juxtaposition between real life and WvW, or anything else that you would like to discuss!
Just so you know where I am coming from...
I started playing GW2 just after launch. I have been in many MMOs since my first on Asheron's Call many years back. I have been a Guild Leader, Council Member, Lore Master, Event Leader and every other hat imaginable over the years. I chose this sever for GW2 randomly. I joined the guild Highline because at the time they were pretty active in WvW. I ran with them a lot. I learned a lot. I lost a large portion of my life to those battles. The big collapse happened then most of them left. The rest remained as the guild Agony picked up some stragglers and this is where I remained for a time. I quit WvW as I had been burned out from all of it. I was looking for something more in a guild and I started researching. I found Gaiscioch and I was impressed. The goal of this Family fell in line with all other guilds that I had participated in prior to GW2. I joined up and I have loved it.
...and where I am now.
I work as a System Administrator for a large multinational corporation. This means I am on call 24/7 and when they call I have to respond. I have attempted getting events scheduled such as my Fractal for Beginners runs last year, and although I love leading events my schedule is too unpredictable to adhere to a set pattern of events and I do not like not being able to run something if I post it. Recently though I have been talking to some of the WvW leaders about how we can enhance the WvW experience and build on and improve our abilities. I have volunteered to run some events where I will be doing some Backline Commanding. I would also like to share some of what I have learned over the years so that others can do the same. The guide that I posted is Backline in the simplest form. It does not go into special builds or very special maneuvers but it will serve as a basis for keeping the backline fighters out of the poo and utilize their skills in a way more suitable to them. This guideline will help all ranged players whether there is a specific backline commander or not and the principals can be used by everyone. I hope to get the opportunity to serve in this way more if everyone thinks that it is serving a purpose to enhance the WvW experience.
Thanks,
Draconid
