This post is hugely helpful if you want specifc gear or food for BWE. Pop anything that's missing into your bank before you make your first beta character and you'll have it for the weekend.
If you want to use your current Ascended gear but not change the stats, pop that into the bank with the inscriptions/insignia you need to reroll the stats on the beta copies. The snapshot is made the instant you create your first beta character, so you can pull the gear back out and wear it again on your regular characters.
LATER in the same thread, dev Chris Clearly confirms that our masteries will be reset, and Sigils of the Night won't work in raids.
