Tips for promoting a blog post?

I have a blog post that I'd like to promote to the top of the search page in the search engines once I get it done being written and all the pictures added (there are a LOT). It's the story of my 'adventure' hiring a property manager who allowed Crypts gang activity and drug-dealing to go on in my old house in WI, along with the aftermath. It comes complete with a 2 year old living in this family who was exposed to people smoking crack and pot and doing heroin (I'm the one who called Child Protection Services to try to get this poor kiddo out of that ungodly situation), $35k in damage to our home, and the oldest son being the prime suspect in the arson fire that was set intentionally in our garage after their eviction.  It's definitely a horror story. Since we no longer have active litigation, I want to share with people things to look for in tenants and property managers so that they don't go through the nightmare my family and I went through. Believe it or not, I still pray for the little boy's safety.

Anyway, since this is likely to make the property manager rather grumpy since I'm not going to hide who they are, I don't want to do anything that is remotely 'gray area'. I am being extraordinarily careful to avoid anything that could be construed as libel in case they decide to get their shorts in knots, and, well, despite the fact that I despise what happened to my family and me, I try to behave and be a good kid on my end.

So, any page promotion tips you have would be great.

SEO is the key to getting it up in search engines. Wordpress has a very nice plugin for SEO (Yoast) if you are using a wordpress blog. Otherwise, it seems the key is to include your keywords in the title, in subtitles, in the picture file names, picture captions, picture alts, and throughout the text. The most important keywords should show up first in the titles - makes it a little tricky to word everything so it makes sense, but you can mess around with it.

Aside from that, getting people to link to it makes it higher. Have your friends/family share it in social media. Try to find any relevant forums to the issue and set up a discussion with a link to it. Try to find any other blogs that focus on topics like this. Since this is a property management issue, you might want to find local communities online and post about it there - for example, my township actually has a facebook group where people talk about local issues.

It will indeed be posted on my Wordpress blog, so I'll add that plugin. I have plenty of family and contacts who are more than happy to promote the post. I think my family is madder at the tenants and the property manager than I am. They're pretty protective. :)
