So, digging through my old archives in search for some photo's from our early days I found our original Coming of Age ceremony from Dark Age of Camelot. I thought you all might get a kick out of it :).

Teachd gu Inbhe Tachairt

Cead Mile Failte!
On behalf of the Gaiscioch na Anu I would like to welcome ye to the Teachd gu Inbhe of NAME
NAME
and NAME.

We come to Carragh dé Earsadh, the location where the legendary Allister Caulfield was contacted by our great goddess Anu.
It is here the he was told to build a tower so great it would house a sacred staff owned by the Tuatha dé Anu .
He built this tower in less than one season cycle and called it "the Tower of Tir Na mBeo".
The staff was placed at the highest point of this tower, the following month a horde of trolls and kobolds attempted to raid the lands of Hibernia.
The staff emitted a vast aura that made their bodies burst into flames.
Hibernia was saved thanks to the devotion of Allister to his goddess Anu.

In addition this was the very spot that I came to seek the council of Anu after my husband had been slain.
Anu appeared next to the shrine behind me and gave to me this amulet.
/em shows the Gaiscioch na Anu Amulet
She asked that I seek a family so great, it could protect all of Hibernia.
This brings us to today, a day that we praise our youth for their courageous valor while serving their family.
Today is a day that Anu looks upon them with pride, as we award them with the Comharradh de Crabhadh.
The mark of devotion is only given to those who show pure dedication to their studies, the land of Hibernia, our goddess Anu, and their family.
With this mark they will be eligible to participate in the Trials of Guidance and the Trials of Valor.
Achieving the Mark of the Legendary Warrior is not easy. It is a long and bumpy road with great feats that must be overcome. But I have full confidence that those who stand before me now will achieve this award with great honor and valor.

Can I please have today's recipients of this mark step forward?
NAME, for your courageous valor and devotion to the family I grant ye the Mark of Devotion and present you with a coat of arms
/gc promote NAME 7
May Anu bless ye, in all things past and present, may she smile on ye durring your victories, and help ye to your feet in defeat. May her hand guide ye safely.

Here's the original Origins Story.

For ages upon ages, Hibernians have embraced their land and protected its natural energy. The Goddess Anu has been quite benevolent in the seasons past, as food has been plentiful, and the weather perfect for harvesting. The Lurikeen play in the golden fields as the cool air grazes across the open fields grass. Fairies dance among the trees in a playful harmony, and the Elves practice their mystical ways.

All was perfect in Hibernia until a plague struck the land. A band of short and stout individuals from the north came by ship and began setting up camp. They came with tools of destruction and called themselves Midguards. With little respect for the land the Midgards took from the earth to produce mass weapons of mass destruction. Hundreds of acres of forests were leveled to create huge vessels to carry their people across oceans of water. There menacing wraith can be felt near and far as the trees cry out in agony as they are cut to pieces

A story of a sacred shrine spread throughout the land. Located to the north of Tir na Nog it was build by Ancient druids to worship the Goddess Anu. It is said, that in ancient times, a druid by the name of Allister Caulfield was once spoken to by the Goddess herself and he was instructed to travel to Tir na mBeo and begin construction of tower so vast that the Tuatha dé Danann could house a sacred staff which contained the power protect all of Hibernia.

It was less than one harvest from the time that the tower was complete, that a legion of Trolls and Kobolds attempted to lay siege to the lands of Hibernia. The staff began to emit a very strong aura the seemed to repel the heathens from the land. It was then clear that Allister had constructed this town to prevent the fall of Hibernia.

It was shortly after the tower fell, that the very same shrine where Allister was contacted by the Goddess Anu, would become the meeting place of two warriors. One was the Celtic ranger Foglhadha who came from a city in the south known as Howth. The other A Lurikeen eldrich named Bondon who was raised in the nearby city of Ardee. Both had sought after the shrine to seek the council of the Goddess Anu, and both somehow by fate arrived at the same time. Next to one of the pillars where Anu had once appeared, lied a golden talisman with a solitary leaf with the inscription Gaiscioch Na Anu. Foglhadha kneeled by shrine and placed the talisman in her hand. She then placed the talisman around her neck allowing it to rest upon heart. A green glow began to emit from the talisman and a feeling of heightened senses over them. At that moment the clouds parted and a bright light shined upon them. The Goddess Anu herself had blessed them.

They were two commoners, both with a passion to protect the ways of Anu. From that day on, they considered each other the family known as "Gaiscioch Na Anu" or commonly known as the Warriors of Anu. They began forming a band of warriors who fought to protect the ways of Anu. From near and far they bound together as one family. Their pride was in mastering the abilities that Anu has given them and using them to further the people of Hibernia.

Unfortunately a new plague from the east has arisen, known as the Albion. They came wearing a shiny armor of metal speaking of a land called Camelot. They ravaged the hillsides destroying entire forests to put up their forts. They brutally beat and enslaved the natives of Hibernia.

Now the Gaiscioch have two enemies, one from the northlands and one from lands in the east to where the sun rises. Now with every last dying breath the Gaiscioch Na Anu fight to protect the Hibernian way of life.

Great stuff - gee I wish I had met you all back in those days.  It was those roots that made this family what it is today and when the roots are strong the tree can grow healthy and live a very long time.

I remember when DAoC first released. I had just come home from college and I actually called off of work so I could stay home and play. That day feels like a lifetime ago and oh how I wish I could turn back the clock to those simpler days. To think, I was so close (Nimue server) to the family I would become a part of in Rift. Thank you to all of the family that make the Gaiscioch THE best and most welcome home in gaming and outside of gaming.
