I'm not into RPing, but I wouldn't mind a backstory.

I'm not much of an RP player. But, I do enjoy lore and backstories. I am the guy that actually reads the book in Elder Scrolls.

I am trying to come up with some ideas for my toon. I will be launching as an Imperial Templar.

An idea I am kicking around as to why he is in Ebonheart, not only due to being displaced from Cyrodil and the imperial city, but for purely selfish reasons that as a Templar he is trying to overcome.

He is trying to overcome his disdain and borderline racism towards (non-Dunmer) elves or people with elvish descent. He has only been in love twice in his life. His first love was "stolen" (in his eyes) by an Altmer when he was a teenager and his 2nd was already betrothed and currently being mistreated by a fat, double-dealing Breton. Because of this he even has issues trusting Bosmer, not to mention the stories he has heard of cannibalism and other wild behaviors. This is why he chooses to fight against said races, as opposed to against. Purely boastful and prideful reasons that he knows, acknowledges and tries to overcome as he works towards one day helping with reuniting the lands and it's people and driving the daedra back from where they came.

I know this can and should be expanded upon, but it's what i have thus far kicking around the ole noggin'

You have a tantalizing moral dilemma, but I'm a little unclear at what turned the tide for this man.  Based on the incidents you described, his natural inclination would be to hate the offending races and display some xenophobic tendencies.

What causes his change of heart?  It's difficult for me to get from, "all the other races are milk-drinking girly-men who can't be trusted," to, "that's why I think I'll fight racism."

Perhaps a "blood-brother" kind of relationship with and Altmer or Breton (or both, could be a trio) who pull him from his dark place and show that there are good things about their races.  At the same time, as the group travels together, the Nord can see the injustices that his own people perpetrate.  The Nords weren't the first race in Tamriel and did a great deal of land grabbing at the expense of the other races when they arrived on the scene.

I hope these comments help.
