General Executioner Achievement

For those hunting that pretty red dye as an alternative to the Emperor red most of us will never see ;)

After reading up on this achievement and spending several days hunting it, I can confirm the below outline of the General's that appear in specific zones is accurate. Basically every four General's are grouped to a zone starting in the second zone.

As a side note while farming this you will make friends at the dolmens and can compare notes. Below is what most were able to confirm:

  • Most hunting this can confirm at right around the 225 to 275 anchor mark you should acquire all of the General's if you are farming zone by zone. The good news is you are working on your Anchor Devastator (250 anchors) simultaneously.
  • Don't farm in the Vet levels as the generals that spawn are random from the 16 possible bosses. You have a better chance farming for missing general's zone by zone.
  • You can work on your Chainbreaker (100 anchor pinions) achievement as well. Just make sure to tag 1 pinion each time and you will acquire prior to the other achievements.
  • Most seem to believe the 4th general listed for each zone is a "rare boss". I can say that 3 out of the 4 zones the 4th general took a great deal of time for me to acquire. I noticed multiple spawns of the 1st and 2nd general listed for that zone in a period of 2 to 4 hour farming sessions.
  • Most believe that the spawn rate for a general is about 10%. I can advise that with 3 dolmens per zone on average I noticed a general spawn about every 6 to 8 dolmens. So I'm not sure how accurate the 10% number is. But I know I did not destroy enough anchors to say I had a statistically valid sample either.
  • A General will spawn even if you are soloing the dolmen.
  • It is faster to complete a Dolmen solo as it takes less souls to fill the anchor pinion. As more people join, it will scale up.
  • As a courtesy if you already completed the chainbreaker achievement allow those who show up to claim the anchor pinions. You will find most may be courteous as well and only tag one of the anchors and then wait for you to grab. I generally advise in say to take them all. Everyone wins here as they get to their achievement faster :)

When farming a zone move in a clock wise fashion from dolmen to dolmen. If others are farming you will find they move in the same pattern and this will keep the pattern of spawn in synch with the group and help with faster progression. Generally there will be one dolmen that takes a bit longer to spawn as all timers are resetting.

There are 16 bosses, each 4 bosses per zone, starting from second.

2nd zone: Ebonheart - Deshaan

  • Destroy the Torturers
  • Destroy the Ogrim Brothers
  • Destroy the Dremora Pirate
  • Destroy Traveling Dremora

3rd zone: Ebonheart - Shadowfen

  • Destroy the Daedroth of Kora-Dur
  • Destroy the Ever-Open Eye
  • Destroy the Daedroth General
  • Destroy the Devourer of Souls

4th zone: Ebonheart - Eastmarch

  • Destroy the Frost Lord
  • Destroy the Storm Lord
  • Destroy the Xivilai Slavemasters
  • Destroy the Seductive Sisters

5th zone: Ebonheart - The Rift

  • Destroy the Verkarth Vampire
  • Destroy the Crescent Dremora
  • Destroy the Lich of Mournhold
  • Destroy the Son of Molag Bal

This is awesome. As Ral can confirm, I was farming Dolmens on Sunday for this exact thing. The split of the bosses is 100% correct. It greatly increased my success when I knew what zones to be working on. I currently have 192 dolmens completed and need only the Crescent Dremora. Contrary to the last boss being rare theory, I have actually seen the Son of Molag Bal three times over the 70 or so dolmens I beat on Sunday, and I got him twice in the span of 3 dolmens.

I am almost a little bummed that I'm so far ahead of the curve because I am really low on motivation to get even that last boss, let alone 60 more dolmens.

Thank you both for the feedback!

@ Cariance - Yeah, I wasn't too sure on the last boss theory but posted my observations. It's good to hear others as well as I think this may just be the law of RNG at play in that respect.

Well on a positive note you could move to doing dolmens in the vet zones where at least you get a chest at the end. There are some unique skins that drop in the vet zones at the dolmens (lich, seducer, and others) that if nothing else I'm sure you can sell.

In participating in the veteran level POI events, it also appears that the veteran level dolmens have a chance to spawn any of the generals . In addition, dolmens are also a great place to get some kills for the slayer achievements, especially the storm atros .

Somehow, I blame Cetacea :-P

Well let's do the math. 10% (I saw 12.5% elsewhere, but we will use 10%) chance of spawning a boss and a 25% chance of getting the boss you need. That means you have a 1/40 or 2.5% chance of getting the boss you want per dolmen. So if you did anything less than 40 dolmens in those 2 hours, you can't be surprised.

Nah not surprised at all; I only needed 1/4 of the bosses, so I knew it was going to be a chore. Of course, I saw the other 3 bosses many times, lol.
