Moving to Volendrung

Fog said at the last AvA Club that we could move our home campaign to Volendrung if we wanted to. I have made the decision to do so and all my activity will now be on Volendrung.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU CHANGE YOUR HOME CAMPAIGN YOU LOSE YOUR LEADERBOARD AND CREDITS TOWARDS END OF CAMPAIGN REWARDS. YOU ARE BASICALLY HITTING THE RESET BUTTON ON BOTH OF THOSE!

That being said, I've had a LOT of fun on Volendrung the last two days! There is good activity in all three alliances. Many of the Ebonheart Players are low level (sub-veteran), but they play with skill and knowledge. I was in a pick-up group yesterday with 4 other veterans and myself along with about 18 non-veteran players. We held off a mostly-veteran DC group twice our size on two different occasions. Later we lost several keeps to them but seriously delayed them each time for at least 30-45 minutes.

Some keys to how these sub-veteran players are being viable against veteran players:

1. First and foremost, LOTS of heals.  at least 1/3 of the team members at any given time are using Resto staff and poppling heals.

2. Crowd Control - knock downs, negate fields, etc.

3. Staying together as a slightly spread group and staying at range from enemies.

If you see me in one of the sub-rooms of AvA Hopesfire on Raidcall, that means I'm in Volendrung AvA. Feel free to join me when you see me there. I encourage any of you that have been frustrated with the Hopesfire action to come over to Volendrung and try it out as your guest campaign. It's up to you if you later decide to change your home campaign or not.

I don't see the point of moving the home base this close to the end of the campaign.  Not disagreeing that Voldenrung is a good map, just don't see why move?  Do you think you have a chance of becoming emperor in the next 20ish days?

Nope, I've got no plans of becoming emperor. I've been anywhere from 10th to 50th overall on the Hopesfire leaderboard. Hopesfire just isn't fun any more for me, and that's why I play the game. I have fun on Volendrung, I'm going to be there now, so I decided to be done with it. I'll be racking up enough points for a decent enough reward in Volendrung. I'm not going to handicap myself to a campaign (Hopesfire) that I no longer enjoy.

TernieLaBiscut, honestly, you would have a better chance than on hopesfire. When was the last time we had the center ring. Dont switch till the end of campaign if you value the end of campaign awards, but if you dont care about it feel free. Doubt any ep will get emp on hopesfire, we have proven that we can make emps on volendrung.

I'm thinking of doing this as well since the last patch reset my contribution on Hopesfire. So I see no point in trying to get those points back.

This is definitely the campaign to be on if you want Emporer.  I have been home in Vold for about 2 days and within 4 hours of making it my home,  I was able to drop in leader board from 1k+ to just below 100.  The point difference between 1100 and 300 is very small.  Given a healthy amount of play time and a dedicated group of quality players,  there is nothing that will stop you from making Emp before the campaign ends.

Why is it that Hopesfire PvP enemies seem like world bosses?  Three of them will wipe two full GSCH raids with no effort?  Then we go to Volendrung and there are v12 enemies there, too, but we still have good fights?

I hope Volendrung will be the campaign where we can recreate that Sanctum of Rall experience from GW2.

The ones on Hopesfire all are ex emperors wearing top tier gear. The guild on ad side farmed it all first weeks of the game and used us to do it. Stick 3 of those together and they become gods.

My question is: Is Volen a challenge though? Last time I was over there it was all red, and all we did was go get skyshards. Not much of a fight challenge as far as I'm concerned. But I won't switch until it's time to switch because I'm finding plenty of good fights in other campaigns.

Yes there is a challenge,  there is a definite group of blue and yellow groups that are clearly guild/comms oriented that present us with a challenge.  Though you must understand I play with a group that is roughly a raid group at its max and usually around 10-15.  EP has from what I have seen a small to medium size pug community that is willing to work with other groups to capture the ring.  These groups are led by players that are near the top 10 ( wanting to make emporer ).  The leadership of my group has made it clear to these players that they are more than willing to help with the emporership grind and thusly there has formed a loose confederation of EP groups.  Saturday if memory serves,  my group with maybe 20 or so more ep players held off at its peak a 100+ blue raid on our last keep for the emporer.  So clearly they can field a sizable force.  The fights can provided the stars and merc/seige gods align,  be pretty epic.

Perhaps the reason why it was all red,  correct if I am wrong is because GSCH had just came through the day before?  I know Club night is known by the locals as "The Zerg".

All in all,  you are going to find good fights no matter what campaign you are in.  No matter if you want dueling for single to multiple players,  fixed skirmishes,  small, medium or large force on force or precision competitive play,  its all about sensing out the times, groups and knowing what you are looking for as well as just getting to know the populace.  Some of the best times I have had were just finding that one player on a map and repeatedly killing him then bsing over tells or comms with him because we owned the map and were bored to tears.

I was  killing  mobs in AVA lastnight on  volendurg  and was listening  to all the drama  in region chat .

their was crowned a new  Emperor  lastnight ,  and basicaly  they had a deal with nee  and the rest of the server ,

they had Nee  after getting emp  to  drop out and not get any points for 5 days , so they could get their buddy emp .  and they were upset that some people didn`t want to do that .

Way i look at it .  if you  want to be Emp you need to earn it , there shouldn`t be any free rides  kinda annoying that there are people even playing  RVR  on that server that expect everyone else to help them farm Emp titles .

they stated they  =  PC  are leaving after they get everyone they want  emp title , hope the new camp turns out to be fun .  we wiped the zone a week agao and there was nothing to do in Volendurng from tues until  1000pm est on Friday night  as we owned the whole map .  and then  it was  just  a couple groups of DC  out and they had taken only 3 keeps in 3  days lol .

Pc has been  problem child. They have no combat etiquette and talk a lot of trash to everyone. They spawn camp and openly farm other teams. They're one of the main reasons the map was completely red. There the epic version of what we fought on Hopesfire and you remember what that did to morale. It's my hope they will get what they want and leave quickly.

There is more to this story that you are not aware of.  This is nothing more than top 10 campaign politics,  similar to any competitive pvp ranking system.  Pretty much a small group was able to farm more ap in 2 weeks than others could in an entire half campaign and now they are pissed that they got passed up by people willing to put more time in then they can or will.  To say that getting Emp in AvA is earning it is ludicrous.  Would it be a case of free ride if Fog ran club night every night and you overtook the top 3 from the ap gain from the same and during an off hours group and were crowned Emp?

There is always going to be people that get "cheated" out of an accomplishment because someone is better or puts in more time than them.  What matters is whether they cry out in despair or reach deep and try harder / play smarter.

Ultimately you can think what you want but be careful about throwing around insinuations of hubris and cheating.  It can lead to no good in the end.

I will agree that they are crude though.  They are of a different mindset from this guild.

I don't know much ava, and even less about politics, but what is going to prevent the evil bananas of doom to following us to our new home and start the farming all over again?

Kitty, respect. That's what. I asked them to not farm us and out of respect they bowed out and agreed. The bananas of doom have not hit us in about 2 weeks since I talked to them.

Perun, their attitude is what I don't appreciate.  Have you not been with us the past 2 events? They are rude to everyone on the server, disrespectful, and down right cancerous. No good will come from them being on volendrung. The sooner they leave the better. The natives are not happy about their arrival.

How much time remains in Hopesfire Camp. Last I checked on the leader boards I wasn't doing great but was in top 100 of DK (barely).

Should I just wait until the Camp ends or is that not good enough to hang around and switch to Volendrung

Perun  if someone gets passed up by someone else who worked his a%&  to get to the top that is not cheating anyone out of being Emp .  I am referring to them telling other plrning itayers to stop getting points so their friend can get Emp is what I call not earning it. If you out score everyone that's good. Bit telling others who pay to play . To not score any points is sad. And to just go along with it because they are gonna leave when they are thru farming emp titles lol.
